Discover the ancient wisdom of cacao, a sacred plant medicine for the heart that helps us open up and heal gently. Cherished by civilizations like the Mayans and Aztecs, cacao’s ritualistic use is at least 5000 years old, connecting us back to ourselves, our bodies, and the earth. Our day retreat itinerary:

1:00 PM: Arrival smudging/introductionsopening ceremony

1:15 PM: Heart opening warm-up - somatic movement

1:30 PM: cacao origins, ceremonial practices, and uses.

2:00 PM: Break

2:30 PM: Cacao preparation session

3:30 PM: Cacao Ceremony, Sound Journey, and an intuitive neuropath art session.

5:30 PM: Integration and sharing circle

6:00 PM: Conclusion

Option add on: all this heart opening work can make one hungry! Join us after our session is complete for a Mexican feast at local restauran Nacho Mamma.

Home Immersion :

• We’ll connect through a WhatsApp group and have daily meditations and journaling prompts for the 7-day post-retreat.

Come with an intention, it can be anything alive for you at this time.

Facilitators

Ana Mexia is a Mexican-born medicine woman, sound practitioner, trained Cacao facilitator, and ceremonial space holder. Her deep passion for learning about and from native communities has led her to work with wisdom keepers such as Mayan elders to bring this work forward in a respectful way.

She took part in a 7-month apprenticeship with a Mayan elder where she deepened her connection to Cacao, her Mexican roots, and the Mayan community’s wisdom and calendar. She is a devoted student of curanderismo and shamanic practices, and her work weaves together different tools she’s learned along her Medicine Path such as sound, voice, meditation, breathwork, and traditional healing practices.

Andonia Fthenakis is a multidisciplinary artist born and raised NYC with deep roots in Greece. She works with raising the vibration of the earth, our heart and soul through alchemical energy medicine and the esoteric healing arts. She is a Bank Street educator and ceremonial space holder trained in various healing modalities including cranio sacral unwinding, ThetaHealing, tuning fork therapy, vibrational sound healing and vocal sound therapy. Her teachings foster somatic healing, encouraging deep surrender for mind-body-soul balance by blending healing and art practices.
